Enjoy a slightly different experience – a guided evening walk up to and through Cathedral Cave!

Tour Details:

  • One event per month: May 24, June 14th, July 12th, August 9, September 13.
  • Tours will leave from the Onondaga Cave campground woodlot by 8:30 pm. Your tour will last approximately 2 hours from start to finish (at the woodlot).
  • The tour cost is $15 for ages 13 & up, $10 for ages 6-12, and under age 6 is free.
  • Pre-registration is recommended, because space is limited.
  • Meeting point is at the Onondaga Cave campground woodlot.
  • From there the walk to the cave entrance is a short 1/4 mile hike on Deer Run Trail, and the round-trip cave tour is about 2/3 of a mile, making the whole tour 1 and 1/3 miles.
  • The cave is 57℉ degrees, and the trails are occasionally hilly and slippery. We recommend wearing good walking shoes and bringing a light jacket.
  • We will provide some flashlights but you can also bring your own!
Did you know? The grotto salamander is a cave-adapted blind salamander found in both Cathedral and Onondaga Caves.

You’ll definitely want to bring your “eagle eyes”, and maybe we will see some salamanders!
