Mark Holland Pati PelleritoOnondaga Friends Association presents:

Mark Holland and Pati Pellerito

Saturday, August 6

Experience the acoustical genius of “mother earth” inside Onondaga Cave.
Enjoy the relaxing, meditative sounds of the Native American Flute along with Himalayan Singing Bowls and Planetary Gongs in addition to other instruments used for sound therapy. Pati Pellerito and Mark Holland will join the earth and the cosmos in dream weaving fashion. Their sound will transport the listener as they play to the acoustics of the cave. The vibrations and frequencies from over 20 Singing Bowls along with several Gongs mixed with a wide variety of wood flutes will fill the cave to provide medicine for the soul. Mark and Pati will be playing from their new CD, “Dreamwalker”.  Come feel the sounds.

Hot August Night – Cool Cave Music is reminiscent of the old days in the ’30s when Saturday night events were held in the cave to escape the heat of the summer. Advanced reservation is requested and seating is limited. Tickets may be purchased here and will also be available at the door. Doors will open at 6:00, and refreshments will be served before the event and at intermission in the lobby. No food or drink will be allowed in the cave during the event.

Award winning artist Mark Holland is considered by many authorities on the Native American Flute to be among the top flutists performing and recording today. Leader and founder of Autumn’s Child,  Holland has described his project Autumn’s Child as Global Chamber Music; a hybrid of world, jazz, classical and folk styles. Through Autumn’s Child, Holland showcases the versatility of the Native American Flute, creating a new acoustic instrumental fusion, an eclectic sound that is truly one of a kind. Mark Holland started Autumn’s Child in 1995. He began his publishing and record label, Cedar n Sage Music in 1997. He has recorded 22 CDs to date. Holland has a B.A. in Music from the University of Missouri where he studied with two members of the Saint Louis Symphony. Mark Holland is known for his unique soulful style of “playing from the heart”. Holland tours regularly throughout the country. When working in the duo setting with Pati Pellerito, Tibetan Singing Bowls and Planetary Gongs, his playing style is in a more complimentary vein. Weaving melodies in and out, over the sound bed created by the singing bowls and plate gongs as well as kaizen tongue drum among other instruments. This approach is a more meditative and relaxing style of playing while incorporating low flutes and ultra-low flutes.
